We have some Yucca plants growing in our yard. I had Dan go out and dig one up. I washed the roots, peeled them, cut them up, and then i smashed them like garlic with a hammer. I dried them in the oven. I did this last summer too, but I dried them in the sun. It took about a week and a half to completely dry. I stored the dried roots, but never used them. I used some of the fresh root for my shower and it actually felt pretty good, it was clean and moisturizing. I used it like a bar of soap. It was like a scrub how it exfoliates. My hair, I let it soak in for a few minutes and it turned out very smooth and silky, not dried out like it usually does. I have learned from working in cosmetics that a lot of products have a chemical called Sodium Laurel Sulfate, or SLS. This chemical kills healthy cells and dries out the skin. This is used to help a product lather or foam but it looks like I wont have to worry about dry hair anymnore… I’m going to try this out for a few days and see if it really does a good job at keeping me clean. Dan and Dom are going to try it tonight too. For today though, I plan on heading out today to buy some plants for my soon to be veggie garden. I know it’s a little late, but I can still make it, some things though I am going to have to go to the farmers market and buy in bulk that was I can can some stuff for winter.
I know it all sounds extreme but really, I think the way society lives now is extreme. We just want more and more and when will it end? It wont. I want to find a community of like-minded people, because most people just look at me like im a nut because of the way I do some things. I have been yelled at for breastfeeding my baby and told it was stupid. I have also had people get really pissed at me saying im irresponsible for choosing a homebirth for the baby coming in December. I’m tired of being around people who don’t understand.
